About the Rocky Mountain Climate Organization
The Rocky Mountain Climate Organization administers the Network.
RMCO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to keep the West a special place by reducing climate disruption and its effects here. RMCO is a coalition of diverse partners, all interested in having the interior West do its share to address climate change, by both reducing emissions and preparing for the changes that are coming. Among RMCO's other programs is the Colorado Climate Project, in which RMCO has brought people together in Colorado to develop a consensus on ways to reduce the state's contribution and vulnerability to climate change. The central recommendation of the blue-ribbon Climate Action Panel convened by RMCO in that project was adopted by Governor Bill Ritter, Jr., when he set as official state policy the goals that Colorado reduce its emissions of heat-trapping gases by 20% by 2020 and 80% by 2050, both in comparison to 2005 levels -- just as recommended by the panel.
Help us spread the word about what climate change can do here and what we can do about it.
We have an important mission, a broad and effective coalition, and many other strengths - but we also need your help to be able to do our work. RMCO is supported by local governments and businesses, but also by many individuals. We welcome your support!
